Rainbow Garden Designs, a landscape design firm and interior plant design and maintenance
company,  was founded in 2002. We help clients beautify their landscapes and businesses with
lush, low-maintenance plants so they can enjoy an aesthetic views and increased property values
    without all the work!

Owner and founder, Sandy Remijas has been creating high-impact, environmentally friendly
landscape design concepts for clients that surpass their needs for over ten years. "We save
clients money by selecting hardy plants offering long-bloom season, and multiple seasons of interest
    all at competitive prices"!

Sandy Remijas, the owner of Rainbow Garden Designs, is a horticulturalist par-excellence who combines a potent passion
for landscape design together with concepts that make for long-lasting, multi-seasonal rainbows of color. With an intense
respect for nature and a savvy knowledge of plant species that thrive in the Northern Illinois climate, she  breeds gardens that
    bring out Best-In-Class aesthetic views.

A designated University of Illinois Master Gardener and devoted Morton Arboretum advocate, Sandy seeds every project with
carefully selected plants, flowers, shrubs and trees that work collaboratively and uniquely to best highlight each home, place of
business or facility. Having created an extensive plant library, she waters each project with customized research to ensure
    high-impact curb appeal.

The colorful blooms of each landscape design project are cultivated to achieve hardy performance with low-maintenance
plants that yield four seasons worth of nature's bounty. The 2010 1st-Place winner of the Illinois Landscape Contractors
Association for Landscape Design, Sandy analyzes each undertaking by soaking in the overall goal and digging in deep with
state-of-the-art landscape design software. She determines time-frame for maximum performance, color coordination and
three-dimensional considerations for proper spacing of the ultimately mature plant.

A member and committed participant in ongoing horticultural-related courses at the Chicago Botanic Garden and more,
Sandy has an eye for combining landscape designs that work not only to beautify the garden but also to address common
flooding or troublesome puddling issues. Rooted in the philosophy that landscape designs should be multi-faceted, Sandy's
plans include calculations for the slope of the land along with the natural detention/retention aspects of each parcel.

A graduate of the Ornamental Design School from the College of DuPage, Sandy lends her artistic expertise to both decorate
and improve the interior of the home, office or lobby. An educator and regularly  sought-out presenter, Sandy makes sure to
feature the multiple benefits of bringing lush, tropical plants indoors as well. She points to psychological studies that prove a
healthier outlook on life stems from a connection to thriving plant designs that authentically inhale the sun's energy.

Indoor plants then work doubly hard by creating and releasing fresh oxygen in the air. A recent NASA study shows that healthy
indoor plants help remove toxins in the air. Realizing that many common toxins found in carpeting, paint, furniture and the like
cause unnecessary allergic reactions, Sandy  is a stalwart fan of reaping the air-quality and cleansing power of fresh oxygen
    producing indoor plants.

With a heart for detail and a pledge to utilize the full benefits of landscape and interior design, Sandy has integrated a network
of trusted collaborators to achieve customer satisfaction and environmental integrity.

Remijas shares her passion and knowledge of plants with her community so local homeowners and businesses can benefit
from her talents. In a cooperative effort with The Lemont Friendship Garden and The Lemont Historical Society, Sandy
donated the master landscape plan she created for The Lemont Area Historical Society dubbed "The Stain Glas Garden".
The plan was installed in phases over a 5 year period as the garden club was solely responsible for raising funds to purchase
the plants. The project was featured in Chicagoland Gardening magazine in 2008.

Graduating with Honors from the College of DuPage with almost double the amount of credits needed, Sandy earned a
degree in Ornamental Horticulture. She worked as a Certified Master Gardener for seven years and continually updates her
horticultural knowledge through educational programs at the Morton Arboretum, Chicago Botanic Garden, College of
DuPage, industry seminars, trade shows, etc. so clients can benefit from the latest information available on new plants,
installation techniques, and new hardscape materials.

Sandy’s experience, education, passion and unsurpassed customer satisfaction have made her one of Chicagoland’s most
respected landscape designers.  Just imagine the rainbows that Sandy could create in your garden!

ABOUT US
WHO WE ARE

DESIGN PHILOSOPHIES

Here at Rainbow Garden Designs, we believe the following principals render professional, low-maintenance, and long-lasting results:
  • the mature size of the plant is a very important consideration when selecting plant material. Trees growing into structures and shrubs requiring annual pruning
to keep from growing above the window sills are not acceptable practices at Rainbow Garden Designs. Choosing the appropriate plant for the desired location
is vital and considered with each plant selection
  • Planting in mass is a primary design principal that is practiced in all our plans. This style of planting presents a professional look, provides high impact visual
effect, and organizes the over all landscape plan.
  • Buying locally grown plant material is essential! Locally grown plants are accustomed to our alkaline, clay soils and weather conditions therefore they
perform at their best in your garden on a long-term basis.
  • Develop a landscape plan in accordance with the architecture of the house.
  • Use plant material that offers seasonal color and multiple seasons of interest.
  • Emphasize winter interest in the landscape plan. In Chicagoland, the spring and fall garden last 6 weeks in length each, the summer garden persists for 3
months, but the winter garden carries on for 6 months of the year! It is paramount to plan for this when preparing a plan! Once the winter garden has been
planned and the "bones" of the garden established, its simple to enhance the spring, summer, and fall gardens. This is the key for a professional, successful
    landscape plan.
